The research of general service words is important for the research of Chinese, vocabulary history and teaching Chinese as a second language. The thesis regards"fei"and"pang"in Chinese characters as the research object , chooses the classical literary works both in modern Chinese and ancient Chinese as language materials and gives a detailed classification and description of the reference distribution of the two Chinese characters by the synchronic and diachronic methods. We will explore their historical development, analyze their characteristics and rules and try to reconstruct the properties of the vocabulary system. It can be divided into three parts (introduction, body and conclusion) and four chapters in all.Part I is the introduction (Chapter I), which explains the reasons why we choose the object, aims and the research meaning and describes the present situation and language materials of the research object.Part II consists of two chapters. Chapter II is a key and difficult point, which gives a detailed classification and description of the reference distribution of the two Chinese characters, makes a summary of their comparative analysis and explores the characteristics and laws. Part III puts "fei" and "pang" into the historical plane and the dynasty as the key link and gives a detailed classification and description of the reference distribution of the two Chinese characters. At last we will summarize their system properties.Part III is conclusion (Chapterr IV), which makes the conclusions of the reference distribution of the two Chinese characters, tries to solve the problems in the process of describing, classifying and teaching Chinese as a second language.
