| In recent years, British writer J.K. Rowling's series novel'Harry Potter'set off a boom in Europe and the world, and it becomes a cultural phenomenon worthy of attention. From'Harry Potter'appearing to present, the academic study of it is colorful, and shows a various trends. However, scholars have not pay enough attention to the snake image, and the research subject about the snake image's function in building structure and expressing subject is not in-depth.Based on the theory of synchronic juxtaposition and metaphor, the thesis studies the snake image, analysis the function of the snake image, expecting to do some meaningful work for the research of'Harry Potter'.There are five parts:Introduction: This part is mainly an overview about the current study on'Harry Potter'. Summarize the current research on domestic and international, it indicates that the focus and studying methods of this thesis is the snake image of'Harry Potter'.Part one: This part summarizes the significance of the snake image in the world culture. Collation of the snake image in'Harry Potter', divided the snake image into two categories as concrete type and metaphor type, and explained them specifically.Part two: This part discusses the form function of the snake image based on the theory of synchronic. The author created a parallel space and the parallel characters by using the snake image skillfully. It formed a major feature of the art, improved the aesthetic of this novel.Part three: This part explains the theme function of the snake image's metaphor. The author used the snake image analogy with hell,darkness and the alienation of human nature. By this means, the novel has showed the deep meaning of good and evil,life and death and the alienation of human nature has showed , and rised the theme of the novel to the philosophical level, and enriched the ideological content of the work .Conclusion: This part sums the whole text, points out the space to be studied of the snake image in'Harry Potter'. |
