Teacher's questioning is a major part in teaching activities, whose effective application is much useful in both students' classroom involvement and understanding, and thus improves the learning of target language. Higher vocational College English teaching goes along the basic principles of "the "skills-oriented, good enough for the degree", employment-directing, practice teaching and work-based theory and practice integration learning. Based on the analysis of the above features, the paper focus on the teacher questioning strategy. Compared with other studies in this field, this paper gives prominence to the effective questioning strategy in higher vocational College English class. The paper starts with the taxonomy of teacher questioning, mutual teaching and features of higher vocational College English teaching, then makes a discussion of its present problems. The paper ends with advice to make the teacher questioning strategy more active. This research finds that the effective questioning is dramatically important in classroom teaching. Based on these findings, this study draws implications as follows:1) questions should be relevant to instructional goals; 2) varying teacher questioning patterns; 3) mutual questioning; 4)questioning by inducting students to question; 5) asking probing questions.
