| The History of the Jewish Community in Alexandria is a glorious period in the whole Diaspora of the Jews. The Jewish residents enjoyed the improvements of the political status, the economic strength and the cultural prosperity. The achievements became the treasure of the Jewish civilization. This thesis starts with the social situation of the Jewish Community in Alexandria and the ethnical relationship between the Jewish Community and the other communities, on this account to discuss the historical status and contribution of the Jewish Community in Alexandria during the whole historical process of its vicissitude. In succession, this thesis summarizes the Hellenism and the Anti-Hellenism, the two tendency of the cultural development from the angle of the cultural conflicts and communications, in order to reveal the formation of the Jewish-Geek tradition and the impact to the Christian tradition in the Middle Age. Meanwhile, the author tries to chase certain clues about the Anti-Semitic movement and the idea of Anti-Semites in embryo, for the sake of the retrospect of the Anti-Semitic Movement into the middle and latter half of the Hellenistic Period. This research endeavor to construct the Jewish Community located in the foreign Egypt, which can be a beneficial attempt to investigate the Jewish Community in Alexandria under an angle of view interdisciplinary.This Thesis in all could be divided into 3 chapters, except for the prolegomenon and the epilogue.The chapterâ… summarizes the origin of the Jews in Alexandria and the formation of the Jewish Community in this metropolis, as well as the social and cultural prosperity brought by the Jewish immigrants. Alexandria supersedes Jerusalem and Athens, and becomes the centre of economy, culture, education and religion during the Hellenistic Period.The chapterâ…¡analyzes the cause and the consequence of the Hellenization of the Jewish Community. The author expatiates on the policy of Hellenization implemented by the Ptolemaic Government and the relationship between the Jews and the dominant Greeks, so as to explain the process of the gradual Hellenization of the entire Jewish Community. The consequence of the Hellenization is that, a counterforce of Anti-Hellenism emerges from the Jewish Community which has been cultural disenchantment. The Jews of different social stratum voluntary maintain the Jewish Culture and the Judaism Tradition, and give impetus to the formation of the Judeo-Greek Tradition eventually.The chapterâ…¢dissertates on the Early Anti-Semitic Movements in the embryonic stage an episode appears in the vicissitude of the Jewish Community in Alexandria.
