A Study On The Reduplicate Verbs And Adjectives In Zhanjiang Min Dialects

Few scholars have the systematic research on the grammatical features of Zhanjiang Min Dialects. Furthermore, there is less grammatical comparison between Fujian and Zhanjiang Min Dialects. This thesis focuses on the overlap of verbs and adjectives, choosing several features of Zhanjiang Min Dialects, Shantou dialect and Fujian, and focuses on analyzing the similarities and differences between the forms in the overlap of verbs and adjectives and the grammatical meaning. By comparison, we can see that there are a bit great differences in the overlap of the internal verbs and adjectives of Zhanjiang Min Dialects, including the grammatical meaning. Zhanjiang Min Dialects, Shantou dialect and Fujian are Influenced by geographic location. Naturally there are some similarities and differences in the above aspects.The thesis is composed of 4 chapters. The first chapter is and introduction, trying to introduce the fundamental state of Zhanjiang Min Dialects, meanwhile indicates the research range. The second one is a specific verb comparison, which focuses on the reduplicate form of internal verbs of Zhanjiang Min Dialects, and contrasts it to that of Shantou dialect and Fujian. The third chapter is a specific adjective comparison, which focuses on the reduplicate form of internal adjectives of Zhanjiang Min Dialects, and contrasts it to that of Shantou dialect and Fujian. The last chapter is an epilogue, summarizing the grammatical meaning of the reduplicate verbs and adjectives of Zhanjiang Min Dialects, emphasizing its distinctiveness. Meanwhile it probes into the features and causes of the inheritance and the variation in the grammar of Southern Min Dialect.
