The intangible cultural heritage in Taoist places is the achievement of our ancestors which involved great value of social, historical, cultural, economic and educational. Protection and utilization of such heritage play an important role in promoting the development of our culture and China's soft power. It is beneficial in enhancing the development of moral and cultural. It is also contributed to social harmony. To achieve the core and the target of harmonious society which include group identity, ethnic identity and social identity. Currently the conservation and utilization of intangible cultural heritage and Taoist places are in their own ways. The conservation and utilization of material is much greater than intangible culture. So the utilization and conservation of intangible cultural heritage should be the most important issue.The main research technique used in the article is the generalization method, the analytic method, the real diagnosis method. This article takes Taoist places for example. The paper generally summarizes the content and character of the intangible culture heritage, discusses the relationship between the intangible culture heritage and material space and how to protect the intangible cultural heritage in Taoist places and how to create the spaces for Taoist places.By analysis, we have the following result. Firstly, the Taoist places are physical form of cultural heritage. The element of Taoist places does not comprise a high artistic value, But the space environment which combined by them reflecting a history of the cultural value and style features. Secondly, Taoism places is the substance of intangible cultural heritage, intangible cultural heritage is the real meaning of Taoism places. We also have the following conclusion. Firstly, Different types of intangible cultural heritage corresponding to different material space, we should choose proper material space to reveal and protect the different type of intangible cultural heritage. Secondly, the creator and protector play a great role in protecting and utilizing intangible cultural heritage. Thirdly, conservation and utilization is only a means for intangible cultural heritage, the conservation and utilization of intangible cultural heritage should be actively with modern social development and ensure that the dynamic and sustainable of intangible cultural heritage.
