The Research Of "Haozai" And Related Patterns

This thesis chooses the adverb "haozai",the "haozai X" pattern and the "haojiuhaozai X" pattern as the study object. It consists of three parts: the introduction, the main part and the conclusion. The introduction tells the background and purpose of the thesis. The main part is comprised of four chapters.Chapter One studies the adverb "haozai". It focuses on the effact of sentence beneficiary when the adverb is located on the different syntactic position. It analyzes the clause including adverb "haozai" from the angle of semantics characteristics.Finally, it discusses the main pragmatic function of adverb "haozai".Chapter Two studies the "haozai X" pattern. It finds out the "haozai X" pattern is predicalte "Adjective-preposition" pattern, and the "zai" is preposition here. It summarizes the semantics characteristics of "haozai X" pattern and the three kind of presupposition. Then it discusses the pragmatic function of "haozai X" pattern. Finally, it analyzes the "haozai X" pattern from the use of metalanguage.Chapter Three studies the "haojiuhaozai X" pattern. It concludes "haojiuhaozai X" pattern emerged on the basis of "haozai X" pattern; the use of metalanguage of the two patterns is consistent.Chapter Four studies the process of adverb "haozai" from the angel of lexicalization. It also discusses the causes and mechanisms of the grammarticalization.Chapter Five draws a conclusion of the thesis.
