In the late 1990s, against the Knowledge Economy background, the creative industries flourished, and gradually becomes the important criterion in measuring the competencies of a nation or a city. After China drew into the creative industries concept one decade ago, the achievement of it is remarkable. Shanghai is one of the most economically developed cities in China today. According to the guiding principles of Shanghai government, the development of creative industries had been listed on the 11th and 12th 5-year plan. Currently, Shanghai's creative industries have possessed fairly large scale.This article collected reports from year 2000 to 2010 about the local creative industries, which are from the two local famous, influential newspaper- "Jie Fang Daily" and "Wen Hui Pao", to explain the keywords and give a clear picture of the hotspots and key problems in the developing process of creative industries, which is from a new-born baby to a rookie player. In the ten-year short history, the Shanghai media drawing on the experiences of the developed countries, leading the topical subjects, actively seeking the more suitable way to built a healthy and positive atmosphere for Shanghai creative industries. This article wills analysis the huge influence of media on the development of creative industries based on the relevant knowledge of mass communication. On one hand, the reports of Shanghai local media connect very well with the actual development of the industries, focusing on the fan-shaped expansion. On the other hand, media reports boosted the development, reflected on injecting relevant knowledge, attaching importance to economic benefits and thinking highly of culture expansion. So, in the growing history of creative industries in Shanghai, the influence of mass media is very important.Media as a mirror to reflect the behavior of the society, to what extend, can describe the progress of Shanghai creative industries, the government's attitude to it and the problems that existed in the developing process. Through the clear explanation and description of this article, it will give a clear look to how the media works with the creative industries, and where the problems are, to give a hand to the prosperity of the future Shanghai creative industries.
