Passion is defined as a strong inclination toward a self-defining activity that one likes from psychological standpoint. Vallerand et al differentiate two types of Internet passion: harmonious and obsessive on the basic study of the passion for activities. Harmonious Passion for the Internet is defined as people's ability to successfully integrate Internet activities with other relevant activities in their life, whereas Obsessive Passion for the Internet is defined as a person's difficulty in coordinating Internet activities with other life activities. It has vital significance to describe and analyze the characteristics of the Internet passion which can be helpful to lead the college students to the rational use of the Internet.The purposes of this study are as following:1 Not only to revise the Internet Passion Scale used in the foreign countries on the basis of the Chinese cultural as well as to confirm its theoretical structure through the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis but also to test the stability and effectiveness of the scale .Therefore this study can provide an effective measurement tool for the later research in China. 2 To describe and analyze the present situation of the Internet passion among the Chinese students, supplementing the basic information on the area in China. 3 To explore the relationship among Internet Passion, Personality and Loneliness by a variety of statistical methods and to confirm that Loneliness plays a mediation effect between Personality and Internet Passion, which could be helpful to understand how the factors influence the students'internet passion and to provide a theoretical basis for intervention.Through the statistical analysis of the data, this study makes the following conclusions:1 The indicators of reliability and validity of this revised scale are in line with the requirements of psychometrics.2 On the whole, the harmonious passion of the college students is above the average, and the obsessive passion is under the average level.3 Through demographic difference test , it is found that the scores in the subscale of the obsessive passion have significant difference among the student of different genders and only child or not, and the scores in the subscale of the harmonious passion and the obsessive passion have significant difference in family income and the importance assessment of Internet, while in grade, the length of internet usage, the fixed site for playing computer and in the intimate relationship, there exists no difference in the scores of two scales.4 College students'loneliness, psychoticism and neuroticism have good predictive effects on obsessive passion, and extroversion has good predictive effect on harmonious passion. Loneliness plays a mediation effect between psychoticism and obsessive passion as well as between neuroticism and obsessive passion.
