| Zhuge Liang(181——234),also named Kong Ming, was a famous statesman strategist and diplomat during the Three Kingdoms Period. When he was young, he farmed and studied in Longzhong of Xiangyang. When Liu Bei visited him for three times, Zhuge Liang presented his famous Longzhong Plan. Then Zhuge Liang began to assist Liu's family, he took benefitting the People as his responsibility, spared no effort in the performance of his duty until dying day. All his life dedicated to realize the political goal of reestablishing the Han Dynasty.The image of Zhuge Liang gradually stabilized after going through the process of history---folk legends----historical stories and traditional opera----Romance of the Three Kingdoms. However, the text of Romance of the Three Kingdoms didn't mean that the image of Zhuge Liang stopped changing. With the development of history, Romance of the Three Kingdoms came back to the folk, impacted the folk legends, and promoted the new development of folk legends about Zhuge Liang. Previous researchers put attention on the process of folk legends to Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They always ignored how Romance of the Three Kingdoms came back to the folk, how it promote the formation and development of folk legends. This thesis focused on the folk legends of Zhuge Liang in Hubei, by contrasting with Romance of the Three Kingdoms, analyzed the process of the novel coming back to the folk, promoting the new development of folk legends, explored what had changed in the process, what are the rules that must follow.Other than the preface, this thesis consisted of four parts.The preface expounded the cultural connotation of Zhuge Liang and the significance of the Zhuge Liang legends, summarized the evolution of Zhuge Liang legends in the history, included the previous researches of interactions between the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and folk legends. Then categorized and introduced the collected materials of folk legends, explained the writing thinking.The first chapter introduced the generation context of Zhuge Liang legends in Hubei. First, this thesis sketched Zhuge Liang's lifetime in history. Then introduced the relationships between Hubei and the Three Kingdoms. This thesis pointed out the important historical status of Hubei in the Three Kingdoms, and told the references between Hubei and Zhuge Liang.Chapter two expounded on the extension of wisdom theme,from Romance of the Three Kingdoms to Zhuge Liang legends in Hubei. This chapter discussed the extension of wisdom theme in paying respect to a master and seeking for knowledge, having a precious, influence of marriage, folk wisdom etc. in the Zhuge Liang legends, exemplified the position of The Folk.Chapter three analysised the change of Zhuge Liang's image in the folk legends. In terms of the value of character, folk legends added to demotic value. At the same time, the imag of Zhuge Liang in folk legends appeared polarization:secularization of human nature and sublimation of divinity.Chapter four discussed the sublation of plot, from Romance of the Three Kingdoms to Zhuge Liang legends in Hubei. This chapter pointed out that folk legends chosen the important and funny plot, germinated from core of the plot and minor details. Then took the legends of having a precious as an example, analysed the tendency of hipping in the folk legends which is different from the novel, at last expounded on regionalism in the choice of the plot.Finally, the conclusion part summarized the full text, pointed out that the research of Zhuge Liang legends provided a good example for the research of Reception Aesthetics, and discussed the value and position projected from folklore and writer's literature.
