In modern history, China had suffered a great deal of misfortune, which never made the Chinese bent and demoralized, they always fought dauntlessly and bravely with imperialism and feudalism. The ardent Chinese youth chose to study abroad for the sake of future of the motherland. The Chinese Work-Study Movement in France, which mainly concentrated from the year of 1919 to 1920, is a focus of Chinese education history, and Chinese history itself.Although the Chinese Work-Study Movement in France was very spectacular and drawn much more attention, the women inside were seldom noticed and researched in systematic way. On the basis of collecting, sorting and analysis of the materials, this paper tries to demonstrate the significance of this programme from the angle of women by retrospect to the lives of the female students inside during 1919 to 1920.This paper includes three parts besides the introduction and the conclusion, describes the situations of the women according to the development of this movement, and reflects the background and process of the feminine self-consciousness awakening in China's modern transforming period. The status of these women, before and after they studied in France, also illustrates their remarkable differences from the traditional Chinese women in the past.Chapter one, according to numbers of the women who joined in this movement in different provinces, gives the introduction of the conditions in all aspects, and tries to understand their status, background and reasons for choosing to go to France.Chapter two describes the situations in all aspects of the women during their stay in France, including the living conditions, such as work, studies and love affairs, and their participation of the student movements, in order to understand the background and all kinds of reasons for their different choices of the lives.Chapter three summarizes the status of the women after the finish of their studies in France, tries to demonstrate the influence of this movement on women and the significance of the women's participation.
