Chi Zijian is a famous fictionist of great calibre in Chinese contemporary literatus. She has neither pursued the hotspots nor surrendered to the contemporary literary trends, all the while, she is steadfast in her characteristic values of art. "Hometown" is almost the most crucial element in all of her novels,either those early autobiographical writings or the later elaborate and mature works. The native land,for Chi Zijian, not only dominates her artistic construction but also largely influences her cultural psychology,even crampes her aesthetic choice by the strong ability to permeate of regional culture.From the regional culture point of view, all the novels of Chi Zijan have been studied. On the base of all the relative achievements,this thesis looks into the inherent causes systematically for what Chi Zijan has always adhered to creat regional characteristics on her writing.At the same time, this thesis has also analyzed the relation between the culture of frozen ground landform and the spirit of characters in Chi Zijian's Novels,and it has described the influence of regional culture on her artistic pattern which includes her poetic narrative style and keen awareness of humanistic concern. Moreover, this thesis makes a rational investigation to Chi Zijian's novels in a global and over-materialized background,and it tries to find out the unique value of her novels to Chinese contemporary literature.
