World Politics From The Perspective Of Confucian' Harmony And Compatibility

This thesis approaches world politics from the perspective provided by the harmony and compatibility thought in Confucianism in order to explore its relevance in the modern context. Generally speaking, the political concept of harmony and compatibility is a humanist pattern of political interaction. It tries to cognize and rule the world through overall harmony, and to regard moderation as the route to harmony and compatibility.The main text is divided into four chapters, in chapter one, following the purpose and relevance of the topic chosen, harmony and compatibility idea is defined as ideal theory as opposed to explanatory theory. and then "constructive realism" is used as a approach to elaborate and construct world political theories from the harmony and compatibility.In chapter two, the evolution and contents of the harmony and compatibility are examined as a necessary foundation for erecting the harmony and compatibility world politics theory. The harmony and compatibility in all variety can be divided into "the idea of Supreme Harmony" at the metaphysical level, "the idea of harmony and peace" at the state and society level, and "the idea of moderation and peace" at the individual level (micro-level). The three ideas jointly constitute the dimensional existence of the Confucian idea of harmony and compatibility. The detailed contents can be divided into yin and yang harmony and compatibility idea, moderation harmony and compatibility dialectics, harmony between heaven and men idea, and interpersonal communication harmony and compatibility idea.Chapter three expounds the Confucian idea of harmony and compatibility as world politics concept:first, it proposes the idea of three-level harmony and compatibility as an ideal world order arrangement seen through the perspective of the harmony and compatibility, then examines the world order as conceptualized by the harmony and compatibility theory. After that, moderation and harmony diplomacy viewed by the harmony and compatibility idea is presented. The strategy and skills in the interaction among nations are elaborated at the end of the chapter.The fourth chapter is the revelation of the world's political thought of Confucian harmony and compatibility in modern times. First explores the responsibility of China in the era of globalization, and points out that the rise of China should be the moral and cultural rise; in strength, we need to take the hard power and soft power balanced development of the road; insists on the diplomatic concept of middle harmony and compatibility; and China Needs to go beyond the traditional stereotype of the conflict of international politics for the world to explore the new pattern of contacts and development. Then tries to portrait a new world order based on the Confucian world politics, highlighting that a dimensional world order must integrate "interpersonal heart harmony", the harmonizing role of family, a well-developed citizenship policy in the domestic society, coordination and cooperation among states, and the harmony between states and nature. Only through that can the overall harmony of the society, longed for as it is, be realized.
