The Staged Construction Research Of Delay Discounting

People often make choice between intertemporal result and delay result, then the delaying results would be discounted. This discounting happening during intertemporal choice is known as delay discounting. Researchers have explored it's regular features, such as mathematical model,magnitude effect and sign effect. But these study results have difference, may be affected of staged construction, so we will explore them through the staged construction.As time distance divided into future and past, delay discounting is divided into future discounting and past discounting. On the basic of staged construction,the study explores trait of future discounting and past discounting. It is not only providing foundation for the relationship of future and past, and helping formulate future on the basic of past,but also unifying results.The study includes three experiments with。the undergraduate students as the sample. StudyⅠdelay discounting tasks is used to test delay time range. StudyⅡ:the samples are requested to complete the delay discounting tasks to test the staged construction of past discounting. StudyⅢ:In the conditions of gain and loss, the samples are requested to complete the delay discounting tasks to test the mathematical model, magnitude effect and sign effect. Through the three experiments, conclusions are as follows:(1) The results of two week stage is not significantly, and testing delay time range.(2) The staged construction of past discounting is observed.(3) The mathematical model of future and past discounting are different from different time stage.(4) The magnitude effect of future and past discounting are observed, and the delay discounting rate of little magnitude is significantly higher than of bigger.(5) The sign effect of future discounting is observed, but the sign effect of past discounting is different from different time stage. The delay discounting rate of gain condition is higher than of loss.
