An Investigation Into The Modern Anthropocentric Values

ABSTRACT:Since the twentieth century, with the enormous power of science and technology, humankind had created a brilliant material civilization. At the same time, the contradiction between human beings and nature became more and more prominent, so that sustainable development in the earth became a problem. It also encouraged human beings to rethink people, nature, value and ethical, to think if some problems existed in the basic principles and ideals of anthropocentrism, which resulted various digestion or amended to traditional anthropocentrism. This paper argued that traditional anthropocentrism had its inherent problems and limitations. It needed to be reviewed, amended and supplemented on modern conditions, but it did not mean that we had to use an animal-centrism or any other centrism to replace modern anthropocentrism. Because the value proposition of anthropocentrism was inevitable. We needed modern anthropocentrism which built on the review of traditional anthropocentrism and was suitable for the development of the times. From this thinking, this paper briefly introduced the basic ideas and principles of modern anthropocentrism, and contacted the reality of contemporary China's social development to make a preliminary discussionon on the significance to the development of contemporary China.Above all, this paper discussed the meaning of anthropocentrism and it's development process. Secondly, it introduced the main ideas, content, basic ideas and principles of modern anthropocentrism,and pointed out that traditional anthropocentrism had its biases which brought some negative consequences in theory and practice. We should reflect it, and continue to explore modern anthropocentrism to replace traditional anthropocentrism. Finally, the paper discussed the theoretical and practical significance of modern anthropocentrism in the Context of China's socialist construction. Modern anthropocentrism enriched and developed Marxist ecological philosophy, and it was the the basis of ecological ethics to global sustainable development. It also had an important relevance in thought and time to the CPC's people oriented and scientific outlook on development.I probed into the value ideas and value principles of modern anthropocentrism, and then it can help us understand more about the theory and practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
