From The Trend Of Literature Thoughts To The Methods Of Art

The research of the relationship between Mao Dun and Western Modernism is a necessary breakthrough point leading to the depth and maturity of the Mao Dun Study. Western Modernism is introduced in china with democracy and science in May Fourth Period. As a literator mainly doing the work of literary theory translation and literary criticism, Mao Dun seems to highly meet the Western Modernism on the dimension of literary vision. With the confirmation of the Realism Literary View, Western Modernism---one of the literature trends, gradually fade out Mao Dun's literary creations. However, it doesn't mean that Western Modernism was abandoned by Mao Dun completely. Contrarily, the literary creative subject skillfully absorbs the means of artistic expression of Modernism, consequently, to achieve the artistic skills from the literature trends.Based on the collecting and carding of the existing researches, this paper will expounds from the perspective of the relationship between Mao Dun and the three branches of Western Modernism---Symbolism, Expressionism and Futurism. With the detailed investigation and analysis on the relationship between Mao Dun and Western Modernism, this paper aims at achieving some creative researches on this subject with the new researching perspectives and means, in hopes that the conclusion can also reflect the acception of Western Modernism in the Contemporary Literature History of China.
