Interlanguage refers to the systematic knowledge of language, which is independent of both the learner's first language system and second language system that he is trying to learn. Just as its name implies, it is neither L1 nor L2 but something in between.The thesis is a research report based on the study on English writing. With the interlanguage theory as its theoretical guidance, the author proposed the new teaching approaches. The research lays emphases on the English writing with vocational school students as its subjects. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods are adopted in order to discover the causes that affect learners'writing. The new approaches are tested to ensure that they are acceptable and can help learner's cognition development, they are useful in improving English writing and they are valuable for further application. The research results prove that the application of interlanguage theory to the teaching practice has functioned perfectly in improving the learners'English writing in the experiment.The research is characterized by its focus on learners, that is, much more attention should be paid to learners'spelling, grammar and so on. Learners will understand errors better by being well taught the interlanguage theory, which will help them keep more confidence and positive attitude toward English writing. In aspect of teaching, teachers will play a more important role in monitoring and controlling the development of learners'interlanguage in order to better learners'English writing competence.
