Graham Greene is the great British novelist in the 20th century. Greene's novels are the creations of good and evil, beauty and ugliness, black and white. The paradox in his fictions, the struggle and tangle in his works are especially attractive, those are the parts make his readers feel moved and unforgettable. His works have mixed style of popularity and elegance. His words are concise and vivid. All of these make his works present a unique aesthetic tension.All along, most researchers have paid their attentions on religious themes, moral themes, political themes and the features of Greenland. The current researches are in flakes. Therefore this article was written and studied in another way. It is use carding as study method, use analysis as study instrument. This article starts the analysis from the most controversial aspect of Greene's "Catholic writers" identity, uses Greene's serious works as texts, analyses how the Catholic values become Greene's inner values and how this internalization of the values influent his literary creation, which perform a unique aesthetic tension in his novels. In other words, this article attempts to discuss how Greene's goodness in faith transfer to the beauty of art.Thesis framework consists of a citation, three chapters and a conclusion. The citation gives a brief introduction to Greene's creations and its research status in China and at abroad. The first chapter focuses on Greene's religious way. The second chapter mainly analyses Greene's four Catholic fictions. The four works are Brighton rock, The Power and the Glory, The Heart of the Matter, and The End of the Affair. The third chapter focuses on the lost Catholic creative passion which be elaborated by select A Burnt-Out Case as the analysis text. The conclusion summarizes Greene's religious novels, and finds out a common clue from individually analysis, which is Greene's creativity comes mainly from the paradox in his Catholic belief. Therefore, the hesitation between Catholic and secular, faithful and doubt lead to his unique aesthetic tension.
