Parenthesis is a phenomenon which foreign students learning and using Chinese as a second language must encounter and is a difficult point for them to manage. On account of their less knowledge about it, they can not make good understanding and express themselves well while communicating with other people. So I think we should not neglect the study of parenthesis in teaching Chinese as a second language.First the thesis gives a glimpse on the form of parenthesis and takes the one with stable and semi stable structure as the main subject to research and study. In this thesis we name these two categories as parenthesis and summarize their features, the definitive of their structure, the development of their form, the cohesion of distributed the globality functional, the semanteme non-proposition, and the subjectivity expressing and its objectiveness in expression and devide them in pragmatic functions view. By doing this we can gain an overall grasp of this language phenomenon and provide some guidance in teaching Chinese as a second language.Through the study of syllabus and textbooks, we think the compile should add parenthesis used in daily conversation systematically. We also analysis the mistakes students usually made in their study and summarize them as lose, Miss generation, be suffused with to use. Referring to related studies and analysis we conclude the reasons both from the objective and subjective point of view and suggest teaching parenthesis in phrases and form specific teaching method.
