Learning style has a great impact on language learning and teaching. This thesis introduces theories on learning styles, theories on culture as well as the effect of culture on learning styles.The study is a quantitative study. The author makes use of the questionnaire method to investigate English learning styles. The subjects are 200 non-English majors from Harbin Engineering University and Heilongjiang University. Social Statistics software (SPSS 11.0) is employed to analyze the data. The study generalizes Chinese students'learning style preferences and discusses the effect of Chinese cultural values and educational system on Chinese college students'English learning styles. Combining the theories of culture and learning styles, this thesis also puts forward some suggestions on adjusting English teaching styles to Chinese students'English learning styles to improve the efficiency of both English teaching and learning.
