The verb and the noun are the basic word classes of contemporary Chinese. Theyare the fundamental components of a sentence. Grammatical structures composedfrom verbs and nouns are most commonly used. Building up on previous studies, themain aim of this paper was to examine the"V single syllable + N"structure in the"V+N"configuration. This paper consists of five chapters and their main content is as follows:Previous studies on the"V single syllable + N"structure were presented in theintroduction. Whilst summarizing the results of previous studies, the inadequacies ofthose studies were also pointed out. The value and significance of this paper, alongwith the research perspective and the theory and methods used in this study wereincluded in the introduction as well. The second chapter is mainly on the analysis of the structural characteristics andtypes of"V single syllable + N". The"V single syllable + N"structure is commonlyused in spoken form, but this type of structure has limited ambiguity. It can begrouped into four categories: the verb-object form, attributive form, ambiguousarrangement, and idiom. The characteristics of each category's grammatical functionhave also been studied. This chapter examined the"V single syllable"from the angleof valence.Chapter three looked at the verb-object form of the"V single syllable + N"structure on the basis of N's semantic types using a specialized system. Firstly, theobject in the verb-object form was classed as patient, agent, and prepositional fromthe semantic point of view. On this basis, various forms of verb-object"V singlesyllable + N"structure were subdivided into smaller categories according to eachclass'semantic features of"V single syllable"and"N". The transformative style ofeach subdivided category was then examined.Chapter four mainly examined the attributive form and ambiguous arrangement of the"V single syllable + N"structure. The selection criteria and scope of researchfor each category was determined beforehand. Each category's"V single syllable"and"N"components were then examined individually. Starting with the varioussemantic features of"V single syllable"and"N", the strength of transforming theminto the attributive form and ambiguous arrangement of the"V single syllable + N"structure was looked into. The conclusion is a summary of the basic preparatory works done for this paper. The inadequacies of this paper were also stated and suggestions for further studies onthe topic provided.
