The largest population among the fifty ethnic minorities in China, Zhuang is rich in its long history and profound culture. The ancestors of Zhuang are the ancient Luoyue group who lived in southern China as one branch of Baiyue (one hundred Yue groups). Zhuang people have a tradition of folk-song singing. Gexu'folk-song market'culture reflects that the ancient Yue people characterize by the so-called'Yue-song worshiping'. Gexu in Zhuang area witnesses a long history of about two to three thousand years and still shows its vitality since some original elements of ethnic culture are maintained and inherited meanwhile it had undergone some changes as society developed. As the offspring of ancient Luoyue group, Wuming Zhuang ethnic in Guangxi still keeps the way of life of some ancient culture of Luoyue, and Gexu should serve as one representative among them. Gexu mainly takes the form of singing in antiphonal style. The folk songs in Wuming are various and can be divided into five kinds, i.e. the folk songs from the east, the south, the central, the west and the north. Based on inheriting the traditional Gexu culture of meeting friends and expressing feelings through singing folk songs, the Wuming government meets this need and further push the mass to develop by themselves through innovation, celebration and combination with modern elements and other excellent ethnic cultures. This is an embodiment of harmonious development of diverse ethnic cultures. It not only savors the need of people's spiritual culture but also helps develop the economy in local area and provides a good platform for maintaining and developing the traditional culture. How to forge the traditional culture into a well-known brand in Guangxi for better inheritance while helping promote a harmonious development between the local ethnic culture and economic society remains a urgent problem to tackle for us.
