China's northwest area is one of the most gather ethnic minorities region. In northwest region mainly refers to: Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang these five provinces. Northwest area of regional style is very special: desert area wide, rain lack, day-night temperature difference. Compared with other parts of China, the environment of this place is so bad. Because of the special geographical environment, it just gestate'Oasis culture','Nomadic culture','Grassland culture'and such northwest region characteristic culture and civilization. Here, the animals which grow in elevations have number large and quality excellent fur, it laid the material foundation for the development of woven carpet; the dry climate in here, provide geographic condition to the preservation of woven carpet. In northwest China, numerous minorities, nomads live here, the life habits impact the life style. The woven carpet which is easy to carry is suitable for long-term migration of nomadic life, it makes the woven carpet becomes their essential to daily life necessities. Different ethnic groups and different religious act on woven carpet adornment, it makes woven carpet have extremely regional characteristic.This article focuses on the regional features of woven carpet art, makes China's northwest area with research scope, from six chapters to discuss: the introduction of the concept of regional culture, the origin and the kinds of woven carpet, the decorative features of woven carpet, the performance of regional characteristic in woven carpet art, the woven carpet decoration's purpose and the development trend of regional characteristic of woven carpet in modern life. This article systematic analyzes the influence from the regional culture to woven carpet, start from decoration art major characteristic to study in detail with the pattern, color, material and technique of woven carpet, meanwhile, emphasized combined with local religion, analyze its intrinsic cultural connotation. So, hidden in the woven carpet decorative art,especially the regional culture contents are worth to thinking and exploring .
