| Metaphor is a linguistic phenomenon. It is not only a phenomenon of thinking but also a cultural phenomenon. It exists in language and lives. Modern metaphor theory claims that metaphor is ubiquitous. Metaphor is sometimes difficult to learn. Though there are many teachers and scholars carrying out researches on metaphor, cognitive psychology theory and context theory separately to English teaching, there is no systematic and integral application of all these three to teaching metaphors in college English professional students' textbooks.
