Shyness is a kind of common emotional experience, and everyone might have experienced shyness in his life,but it will become a serious psychological problem if one has long-term excessive shyness.Henderson defined shyness that is discomfort and/repression in the social intercourse situation,Is a kind of fear to negative evaluate and shyness will greatly influence participate behaviors to expectant activity or pursue behaviors to the individual and the occupation target company with upset or repression. Proper and specific-to-situation shyness can be regarded as a normal reaction, but over-shyness and generalized shyness might influence one's learn, behaviors, dailylife and the healthy.In recent years,shyness had been researched widely by many psychologists in western countries, and made great achievements,they found that shyness had colse correlation to some different aspects such as social interaction,recognition,mood as well as self-esteed. But in domestic country, research on shyness is only in the early stage.In eastern culture, clever and obedient children are regarded as good ones,parents and teachers often pay attention to those who are noticeable,that students who are intelligent or make troubles.Shy child is peaceful,they don't start trouble,will not have the aggressive behavior,and will not encroach upon other people,which will make the shy question to be very easy to neglect, But shyness is a problem that not allow to ignore.Therefore,this paper try to take an in-depth disscussion on pupils'shyness,and a thorough investigatin of negetive influnce on shyness in order to remind educational workers and parents that they should pay more attention and support to shy children, provide theoretical and empirical basis to children's psysical and psychologcial development. In the present thesis, a comprehensive literature review was made with regard to shyness,and trying to know more about shyness under Chinese background by questionnaire research.We will discuss how factors such as self-esteem,social adjustment affect the shyness of children on the basis of previous studies.The part of the empirical study is a questionnaire survey from 584 children of primate schools in Jinan. According to the research,the results are as follows:1.Analysis to dependable variable dealt with demography variable shows that:On the scores of shyness and its three dimensions,there is no significant difference between male and female student;scores of students in different grades have remarkable difference, After multiple comparison we found that,on the dimensions of shy behavior,scores of students in grade 4 and grade 5 have no significant difference,those in grade 6 are both higer than those in grade 4 and grade 5,in shy cognition,the scores of students in grade 5 and grade 6 have no significance difference,which are both higher than students in grade 4;in shy mood,scores of grade 5 are higher than grade 4,with lefft grades have no remarkable difference;on the total score of shyness,students of grade 5 and grade 6 have no significant difference,which are both higher than those of grade 4; In the of shyness,shy behavior and shy mood,the scores of multi-child are all higher than those of one-child.2.Shyness and its four dimensions are all have negetively correlation to self-esteed and social adaption,self-esteed relates positively to social adjustment and its dimensions.3.Self-esteed significantly mediates between shyness and social adjustment.
