| Qingpingshantang Collection is a representative works in modern Chinese. This paper focuses on the conjunctions in this book. After the all-sided research, the author describes the conjunctions in Qingpingshantang Collection comprehensively, and finds that there are 83 conjunctions in it. Then on the basis of predecessors'works, the occurrence time of each conjunction are confirmed. Depending on the systematic description, the characteristics of the conjunctions in Qingpingshantang Collection are analyzed, concluded, and then using the grammatical theory to explain the origin of these conjunctions. There are five chapters in this thesis.Chapter One introduces the current situation of the conjunction study in Qingpingshantang Collection and the significance of this thesis.Chapter Two serves the interpretation and classification of conjunctions. The main part lies on the differentiation among conjunctions, prepositions and adverbs.Chapter Three, the first main part of the study on the conjunctions in Qingpingshantang Collection, is the study on copulative conjunction including paralleled conjunctions, connection conjunctions, progressive conjunctions and selective conjunctions.Chapter Four, the second main part of the study on the conjunctions in Qingpingshantang Collection, is the study on infrequently-used conjunctions including subjunctive conjunctions, causal conjunctions, concessive conjunctions, conditional conjunctions, adversative conjunctions, objective conjunctions and modified conjunctions.Through the systematic descriptions and analyses in the above two chapters, there are 83 conjunctions in Qingpingshantang Collection. Of them there are 27 conjunctions adopting from antediluvian, 16 ones from middle ages, 40 ones producing from latter-day. There are 33 monosyllabic, 47 two-syllabic and 3 three-syllabic conjunctions.In Chapter Five, the characteristics of conjunctions and the productive methods of complex syllable conjunctions in Qingpingshantang Collection are concluded. |
