Claude Simon is a representative author of French New Novels, he aroused extensive attention because that his painting style and creative skills present pictorial character and he was awarded the Noble Prize in 1985.Starting from a interdisciplinary aspect of comparative literature and by comparison between the works between Simon's novels and Cezanne and Cubism Paintings, the thesis focuses on discussion on the character of Simon's The Flanders Road that the writing referenced and inherited from modern painting in thought and form. Based upon detailed reading of the writing, the author combines the modern painting theory to analyze the inner description and narrative form of the writing, and deeply studies the similarity in form between The Flanders Road and painting, and approves Claude Simon's great achievement of referencing painting in novel writing.The thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, the possibility that painting and literature learn from each other and aesthetic significance were introduced from the aspect of comparative literature. In the second chapter, the connection between Simon and Cezanne is elaborated in detail and compared; the similarity of their thoughts and painting forms were discussed. The third chapter mainly focuses on interpreting the connection between Cubism and Cezanne and tries to prove the influence that Cubism has brought to Simon and the similarity in thoughts and painting forms.The author hopes that the artistic annotation of the thesis could help people comprehensively understand the painting creation method of Claude Simon and it will be beneficial for domestic study on Simon as well as the thesis could provide a reference for the prosperity of our socialistic literature creation.
