OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between age-related macular degeneration(AMD) and some blood marker.METHODS: Fourteen AMD patients from the out-patient department of ophthalmology in the first affiliated hospital of chongqing medical university during the period of September 2009 to April 2010 were investigated. In this research, the patients'names, gender, age, and other information were collected. Optical coherence tomography(OCT), fluorescein fundus angiography(FFA) and fundus photography(FP) were done in part of them. Five senile cataract petients were chosed as the control group (group C). Their peripheral blood were collected to test the level of C reactive protein (CRP), prothrombin time(PT), prothrombin ratio(PTR), international normalized ratio(INR), HGD, activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT), thrombin time(TT), fibrinogen(FBG), folic acid(FA), vitaminB12(VB12), homocysteine(tHCY). This research used SPSS14.0 to analyze the data.RESULTS: CRP: group A: 7.47±11.02(mg/l), group C: 6.48±4.49 (mg/l). There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). PT: group A: 11.46±1.41(sec), group C: 11.46±1.41(sec). There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). PTR: group A: 0.93±0.02, group C: 0.95±0.07. There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). INR: group A: 0.92±0.02, group C: 0.95±0.07. There was no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). HGD: group A: 123.05±6.56, group C: 116.46±22.78. There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). APTT: group A: 20.42±2.05(sec), group C: 23.66±2.71(sec). Compared with group C, APTT was significantly decreased in group A(P<0.05). TT: group A: 17.34±2.73(sec), group C: 16.38±0.82(sec). There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). FBG: group A: 3.04±0.55(g/L), group C: 2.86±0.65(g/L). There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). FA: group A: 8.30±4.10(ng/ml), group C: 16.77±3.88 (ng/ml). Compared with group C, APTT was significantly decreased in group A(P<0.05). VB12: group A: 518.41±201.03(Pg/ml), group C: 354.22±73.50(Pg/ml). There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). tHCY: group A: 18.43±6.37(umol/l), group C: 13.30±5.19(umol/l). There was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSIONS: 1. There was no identified relationship between CRP and AMD. There was no identified relationship between tHCY and AMD. 2. Decrease of FA may be a reason why the patients suffer from AMD. 3. The decrease of APTT may be because of the high blood clotting.
