Objective To investigate the value of ultrasonic assessment of therapeutic effect of Endostar combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer.Material AND Methods Thirty-eight patients with breast cancer (40 breast lesions and abnormal axillary lymph nodes ) were examined with color doppler Ultrasonography before and after the combined treatment. The patients were female, from 33 to 64 years old, median age was 52. 40 breast lesions of Thirty-eight patients were clinical stageⅡor stageⅢ, of these, only one lesion existed in 36 patients, multi-lesions existed in 2 patients. 20 tumors were upper outer quadrant , 3 were lower outer quadrant, 10 were upper inner quadrant, 7 were areola of breast. Before treatment, ultrasound and molybdenum mammography were performed. All biopsies were performed with an automatic core biopsy device under ultrasound. The pathological diagosis were infitrating ductal carcinoma. The examinations were performed with PhiliPs IU22 ultrasonographic scanner equipped with L9-3 probe. Patients were examined with the same ultrasonography before and after the combined treatment, including lesions positon, number, size, edge, shape, surrounding halo, internal echo and rear echo; the change of volume after treatment; Vmax; the size of axillary nodes and the color flow of its inner. The data were analyzed using SPSS12.0 software, wilcoxon signed rank sum test andχ2-test were used for comparison, a probability of less than 5%(P <0.05) was considered statistically significant. Results After combined treatment, the volume of 36 breast carcinoma lesions diminished. Except for 3 were vanished and 1 were aggrandized. These changes was considered statistically significant(P <0.05). The color Doppler signals of 36 primary lesions decreased or vanished and the value of Vmax and RI reduced. the color Doppler signals of 34 breast lesions decreased or vanished ,and the value of Vmax significantly reduced. Of the 32 abnomal axillary lymph nodes, 28 reduced in volume or vanished after chemotherapy, and the color Doppler signals of 30 lymph nodes significantly deceased. The total effective rate of ultrasonic evaluation was 85%.Conclusion After the combined therapy, the color Doppler signals of and axillary lymph nodes was decreased significantly. Ultrasonography is a convenient and safe tool for assessing the therapeutic effect of the Endostar combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer.
