Cardiac reserve (cardiac reserve, CR), which can be manifested in the dynamic state of the heart change, is the ability to increase cardiac function. It includes the heart rate reserve, diastolic and systolic reserve and other reserves. The non-invasive methods to detect cardiac reserve, which is based on the relationship between heart sounds and cardiac contractility, is an indicator to evaluate cardiac condition using the relative value method. It includes the ratio of systolic time to diastolic time (D/S) and the ratio of amplitude of the first heart sound (S1) to amplitude of the second heart sound (S2) (S1/S2).A large number of heart sound data emerge with a large sample survey of the population's heart state, as well as applying heart sound monitoring system. So data management becomes a serious problem. This paper designed a management system of heart sound database which is easy to operate. The system which takes Oracle9i as backstage supporter and is programmed and developed by Delphi7.0 software can manage a large number of heart sound data. In addition, in order to find medical information hidden behind the massive data, this paper under the guidance of biomedical knowledge, has designed a special software for mining heart sound data.It obtains valuable medical information through a preliminary attempt to mine heart sound data of pregnant women. In order to better evaluate health condition of hearts of the crowd, explore the variation of cardiac reserve, this paper has designed a research pilot program to assess the heart condition of the crowd. The trial tested a total of 3383 volunteers, including athletes, pregnant women, children, the elderly, college students and other groups. The results showed that students majoring physical education have higher cardiac reserve than students majoring other subjects. This method provides a new objective and quantitative indicator for selecting for the athletes and physical assessment of the general public (S1/S2 ratio). Pregnant women's D/S ratio decreased significantly with increasing of gestational age, suggesting during pregnancy and childbirth, the lack of the heart's own blood perfusion time(reflected in diastolic duration)and a marked increase in the burden for the heart. Particularly in the 31~33 week pregnancy, childbirth period and within 3 days postpartum, the peak of the burden for the heart appears and cardiac function tends to impair. There is a big difference in cardiac reserve of different ages of children. With age increasing heart rate generally declines, while the D/S ratio and the S1/S2 ratio gradually increase, which indicates that children's cardiac reserve are gradually increasing with age increasing. Freshmen's cardiac reserve and BMI are closely linked with BMI index increasing, cardiac reserve is reducing. That the ratio of S1 to S2 of the elderly are too high may be high blood pressure in patients with pathological compensatory performance. Therefore, people whose ratio of S1 to S2 is too high should pay attention and need for further examination.Research shows that the non-invasive methods to detect cardiac reserve, which is based on the relationship between heart sounds and heart effort, can effectively assess the health condition of the hearts of the crowd. This study benefits cardiac safety assessment, allows doctors and researchers to understand the influences of various diseases and stress state on the heart and provides a basis for more detailed heart protection.
