Objective: To explore the allergens in children with chronic cough in order to provided evidence for diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Methods: A total of 65 children with chronic cough in my hospital out-patient treatment and hospital from May 2009 to November 2009, were assayed with 16 allergens provided from Allergophama Company Germany by means of Skin Prick Test (SPT). Results: The total positive rate of SPT were 49.2% (32cases), the positive rate of mites was the highest. The positive of other allergens were: pollen27.7% (18cases), animal fur15.4% (10cases), fungi 10.8% (7cases). In 65 children with chronic cough, of which 16 cases positive for males (45.8%), female 16 cases positive (53.3%); there is a family history of allergy in 32 patients, of which 24 cases positive (75.0%); 42 patients had risk factors of living environment, of which 25 cases positive (59.5%); The test's result were significant difference between the different age stages (χ~2=5.557, P<0.05). The test's result were significant difference between whether the children had family hypersensitive history and risk factors of living environment (χ~2=14.78, P<0.05,χ~2=3.935, P<0.05), The test's result were no significant difference between sex (χ~2=0.375, P>0.05). Conclusions: The factor of allergen had obvious relation to chronic cough, SPT with inhaled allergens can be an important tool for diagnosis and treatment of the chronic cough, and it more meanful in children those >5 years, with family history and risk factors of living environment.
