Objective:To investigate the application and evaluation of health education of KTH integrated model on the elderly with hypertension so as to provide the references for the health education in the community.Methods:This was a pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design. Fifty-four elderly with hypertension randomly recruited from the community in Hengyang city were received the health education of the integrated Knowledge-Attitude-Belief Practice Model,Transtheoretical model of Behavior with Health Belief Model for 12 weeks. Five questionnaires, including Common Status made by us, Hypertension Knowledge Questionnaire, the Scale of the Compliance of Patients with Hypertension, Blood Pressure and WHOQOL-100, were used to evaluate the outcomes of the pretest and posttest health education. Data were analyzed by the following statistical methods, such as the Description Analyze, the Paired t-Test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Chi-square Test with SPSS15.0.Results:(1)After the health education for the elderly with hypertension:â‘ The hypertension knowledge score is higher than the pretest, and has distinguished significant differences(P< 0.001);â‘¡The rate of unknown decreases from70.4% to 14.8%, the rate of partly known increases from 25.9% to 55.6%, the rate of completely known increases from 3.7% to 29.6%, and has distinguished significant differences(P< 0.001).(2)After the health education for the elderly with hypertension:â‘ The total scores and intention, lifestyle, attitude, responsibility, smoking and medication use are lower than the pretest, and has distinguished significant differences(P< 0.001);â‘¡The low-level of compliance decreases from 7.4% to 0%, the middle-level of compliance decreases from 51.9%to 0%, the higher-level of compliance increases from 40.7% to 59.3%, the highest-level of compliance increases from 0% to 40.7 %, and has distinguished significant differences(P< 0.001).(3)After the health education for the elderly with hypertension: The systolic pressure and diastolic pressure are lower than the pretest and has distinguished significant differences (P< 0.001), and the longer the intervention, the more stable the blood pressure.(4)After the health education for the elderly with hypertension: The total scores and psychological, social relationships, environmental and spirituality domain scores are higher than the pretest, and has significant difference(sP<0.05). However, there has no significant differences in the domain of physical and independence(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)Health education of KTH integrated model can increase the rate of knowledge of the elderly with hypertension in the community.(2)Health education of KTH integrated model can improve the compliance of the elderly with hypertension in the community.(3)Health education of KTH integrated model can make the elderly with hypertension's blood pressure stable in the community.(4)Health education of KTH integrated model can improve the quality of life for the elderly with hypertension in the community.
