Objective To evaluate colposcopy and the loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) in the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).Methods 108 patients with CIN diagnosed by biopsy directed under colposcopy were operated on by LEEP directed under colposcopy in our hospital, their average age was 37.9 years old and 30 patients had birth demand among all patients. They were follow-up by thinprep cytologic test(TCT) 3-6 months after operation and then per 6 month. Results The operation average time was (5±1.5)min and average bleeding volume was (10±1.0)ml. Among 108 cases,61 colposcopic biopsy cases had the same histopathology with LEEP biopsies (56.5%). LEEP biopsies revealed that 5 patients had more severe histopathology than colposcopic biopsies (4.6%).The most severe histopathological report of the other 42 cases were from colposcopic biopsies(38.9%). Among 108 cases who were followed up by TCT three months after operation,94.4% of the patients showed normal appearance, and the number was up to 100% six months after operation. In this study, severe complication or recurrence was not found. Conclusion colposcopy and LEEP is high success ratio and short time to cure CIN. LEEP directed under colposcopy can excectly remove the lesion, reduce wound, save hospital energy, so it is worth popularizing and application.
