Objective:To analyze bone mineral density (BMD) of elder patients with trochanteric fracture of femur compared after PFNAII/PFNA.Method:Twenty- five patients consisting of 7 males and 18 females are treated with PFNAII/PFNA from July 1st 2009 to Dec 31st2009.The average age was 82.4 years. Post-operation, they were asked to walk with part of weight-bearing with folding walker. Measure the BMD of proximal of femur of normal hips pre-operation and fracture hips which were received operation followed 3 month. Comparing the data of pre-operation of normal hips and of post-operation of fracture side. We get data via proximal femur are divided into 11 areas with DEXA. And we elevate the hip joint function both pre-operation and post-operation.Results:BMD post-op followed by 12 weeks is near to pre-op, the function of hips are the same compared with pre-op.Conclutions:The BMD of trochanteric fracture of femur 12weeks after PFNAII/PFNA can resume to pre-fracture, we can guide patients to load weight-bearing, and avoid complications.
