Objective:In order to reveal the correlation between the incidence of dry eye and the patient's gender, patient's age, eye's refraction, may provide more scientific strategies and means to reduce the incidence of dry eye after LASIK. We analysed the incidence of dry eye 1 week after LASIK and the population characteristics of 154 myopic patients (307 eyes) among Taiyuan citizens.Method:154 myopic patients (307 eyes)were divided into three groups according to refraction: mild myopia group (<-3.00D),moderate myopia group (-3.00~-6.00D) and high myopia group (>-6.00D). At the same time, these patients were divided into three groups according to ages: group A(16~20 years old),group B(21~30 years old) and group C (31~40 years old). All patients underwent LASIK surgery (flap in nasal).1 week after LASIK, diagnosed dry eye according to symptoms of dry eye, breaking up time and Schirmer I test. We statisticed and analysed these data with the Pearson Chi-square testResult:The proportion of men to women underwent LASIK surgery was 1.33/1 before the age of 40. The proportion of men to women underwent LASIK surgery was 1.56/1 (from 16 to 20 years old), the proportion was 1.45/1(from 21 to 30 years old), the proportion was 1/1.25 (from 31 to 40 years old),in Taiyuan.1 week after LASIK, the people's incidence of dry eye was 31.92% before the age of 40, male incidence of dry eye was 28.98%, female incidence was 35.88%, there was no significant difference between the two groups(p> 0.05).1 week after LASIK, these incidences of dry eye were 26.19%,29.17% and 33.33% for men's group A,men's group B and men's group C, there was no significant difference between the three groups (p> 0.05). These incidences of dry eye were 27.78%,31.82% and 55.17% for women's group A,women's group B and women's group C, there was no significant difference between group A and group B (p> 0.05), but between group A and group C, group B and group C,there was significant difference(p<0.05). There was significant difference(p<0.05) between men's group A and women's group C, men's group B and women's group C.1 week after LASIK, these incidences of dry eye were 2857%33.33% and 31.50% for these Patients with mild myopia, moderate myopia and high myopia, there was no significant difference between the three groups (p>0.05). The incidence of dry eye was no significant difference (p> 0.05) between the same degree of myopia with different age groups.1 week after LASIK, these incidences of dry eye were 27.17%,30.25% and 45.28% for these patients froml6 to 20 years old,21 to 30 years old and 31 to 40 years old in Taiyuan. There was no significant difference between the three groups (p> 0.05). The incidence of dry eye was no significant difference (p> 0.05) between the same age with different refraction groups. Conclusion:The population underwent LASIK surgery is generally less than 40 years old, men underwent LASIK surgery were more than women before 30 years old, women underwent LASIK surgery were more than men after 30 years old in Taiyuan.1 week after LASIK, the people's incidence of dry eye was 31.92% before the age of 40 in Taiyuan, there was no significant difference between male incidence and female incidence.1 week after LASIK, all age groups' incidences of dry eye were no significant difference for these men (from 16 to 40 years old)and women(from 16 to 30 years old). The Women's incidence of dry eye significantly increased after 30 years old, the incidence was significant difference between other age groups. Therefore, women should not accept LASIK surgery after the age of 30. Refraction does not affect the incidence of dry eye after LASIK.
