ObjectiveTo compare the efficacy, mechanism and safety of three shampoos:1% selenium sulfide,0.5% piroctone olamine, and 1% zinc pyrithione.Materials and MethodsIt is a random, double blinded and positive control trial. In 132 subjects with moderate to severe dandruff, we compared the changes and relationship of clinical dandruff severity scores, number of Malassezia, and IL-1α/TP, IL-8/TP and TNF-a/TP in the treatment with 1% selenium sulfide,0.5% piroctone olamine, and 1% zinc pyrithione.ResultsThere were no adverse effects reported.
