Objective To explore the difference in the level of serum apolipoprotein AV(apoAV)between cerebral infarction patients and normal population, and the relationship between the levels of serum apoAV and triglyceride. To investigate the gene frequencies of apoAV-1131T>C gene polymorphism, and the association between apoAV-1131T>C gene polymorphism with the levels of serum apoAV, triglyceride or cerebral infarction. Methods A case-control study on 123 patients with cerebral infarction and 113 healthy controls was carried out.The level of serum apoAV was determined by double antibody sandwich ELISA. The genotype and allele frequencies of apoAV-1131 T>C gene polymorphism were assayed by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).All patients were measured with National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),and classified based on the TOAST criteria.Results1.Serum apoAV concentration was negatively correlated with triglyceride(rs=-0.132,P<0.05).the significance of this relationship was more obvious in normal population(rs=-0.212,P<0.05).But no correlation was found between the levels of serum apoAV and triglyceride in cerebral infarction patients(P>0.05).The trend of positive correlation was found between the level of serum apoAV and NIHSS score, but no statistically significance(rs=0.161,P>0.05)2.There was no significant difference of serum apoAV level between cerebral infarction patients and normal population(P>0.05).In the acute stage of cerebral infarction, serum apoAV level has no significant dynamic changes in the four time points(within 24h,3d,7d and 14d)(P>0.05).3.The triglyceride concentration of apoAV-1131C allele carriers was significantly higher than the TT genotype(P<0.05).There was no significant difference of serum apoAV level among apoAV-1131 T>C genotypes. 4.ApoAV-1131C allele was independently associated with an increased risk of cerebral infarction(OR=1.897,95%CI 1.029-3.499, P<0.05).Conclusion1.Serum apoAV reduced the level of triglyceride in the normal population, but did not in the acute stage of cerebral infarction.2.There was no significant difference of serum apoAV concentration between cerebral infarction patients and normal population. In the acute stage of cerebral infarction, serum apoAV concentration had no significant dynamic changes.3.ApoAV-1131C allele increased serum triglyceride level was not through changing the level of serum apoAV.4.ApoAV-1131C allele is an independent risk factor for cerebral infarction.
