Objective: To determine the effect of LSPC on age-associated memory impairment in rats. Methods: All of female SD rats were divided into four groups: AU,AI,L-LSPCand H-LSPC; the memory ability was detected by Morris water maze. After that we got the hippocampus homogenate,To determine the multiple mechanisms on Oxidative and antioxidant system,cholinergic system and Nitric oxide system.Results: Compared to AI group, the groups treated with LSPC were indicated by significantly shorter escape latencies and swimming distances;The content of antioxidant,the activity of antioxidase,the lever of Ach and the activity of AchE of the groups treated with LSPC were obviously higher;the lever of NO and the activity of iNOS of the groups treated with LSPC were dcreased significantly.Conclusion: LSPC has the capacity of improving the memory ability of the AAMI rats and it probably through the way of alleviating the damage of oxidative stress and nitrosative stress,ameliorating the function of cholinergic system in the brain tissue.
