ObjectiveTo observe the fluctuation of serum CK of patients with lumbar disc herniation treated by microendoscopic and conventional discectomy, degree of injury of paraspinal muscles and short-term clinical results of the two groups were compared.MethodsThe operative patients with lumbar disc herniation hospitalizing from March 2008 to October 2009 were divided into microendoscopic group and conventional group. The peripheral creatinkinase was measured in two groups at pre-operative,post-operative 24h and 48h, amount of bleeding was registered at intra-operative, the length of incision and and hospitalization days were registered at post-operative,and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) were Compared at pre-operation and one and three months post-operation.ResultsCompared to conventional discectomy, the group treated by microendoscopic discectomy had lower flutuation of creatinkinase, rapid recovery, less volume of blood and smaller incision.VAS and ODI had no significant difference at pre-operative and post-operative in two groups. The follow-up period was 7±0.8months (range 4 to 13 months ) in two groups, and they didn't recurred any symptoms of back leg pains. ConclusionLumbar disc herniation treated by microendoscopic discectomy can achieve the aim of conventional discectomy, have advantages of lower degree of injure of paraspinal muscles, smaller incision, less volume of blood and quickly post-operative recovery compared with conventional discectomy. It is acceptable by most of the patients, considered more excellent than conventional discectomy. And it is deserved to expand the application clinical to treat lumbar disc herniation.
