| ObjectiveTo measure the average cost of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases infected by Clonorchis sinensis in Foshan city. To compute the disease burden in Guangdong province so as to provide the proof to control the Clonorchis sinensis pandemic in Guangdong province.Subjects and MethodsSubject: The subject in this research was consisted of two parts. The fist part was the expense of the inpatient cost by Clonorchiasis Sinensis infected. The subjects in this part were the patients from all affiliated hospital of Foshan city and all district health bureau. The inpatient cases were rolled from January 1st 2009 to December 31th 2009 who was diagnosed with Clonorchiasis Sinensis. The subjects were divided into disease group and control group though diagnosed with Clonorchiasis Sinensis. The second part was the burden of disease. The subjects in this part were the Clonorchis sinensis infected persons in Clonorchiasis Sinensis endemic area of Gruangdong Province.MethodsTo acquaintance the prevelance rate of Clonorchis sinensis in Guangdong Province, the incident rate of Cholecystitis, Gallstones, Liver cirrhosis, Liver cancer amid Clonorchis sinensis infected persons. The population of Guangdong Province was collected from the Guangdong statistic yearbook.The Research questionnaire include the information of sex, birthplace, age, medical security, diagnosis(according to the International Classification of Disease), bed expense, laboratory fee, experiment fee, nursing fee, operation fee, treatment fee and so on. The information was collected by the staff of medical record. To use the describe study represented the status of the disease group and control group. The chi-square method was used to compare the struggle of sex, birthplace, age between the disease group and control group. The ratio between male and female was 4.33 to 1. The age of disease was concentrated about 30 to 60 years old. The medical security was medical insurance and pay by its own expense.2. The average expense of Cholecystitis, Gallstones, Liver cirrhosis and Liver cancer in disease group was 5015.52 yuan, 9771.76 yuan, 13168.83 yuan and 17638.28 yuan respectively. The complement of pharmaceutical took up the highest proportion (50.02%). As every single disease, the proportion of Liver cirrhosis is higher than any other disease (62.89%), of the opposite Gallstones is less than any other disease (37.97%). The effect factor affecting the average expense is age, diagnose, and average hospital days. The age above 60 cost the heaviest expense and the Cholecystitis cost the lowest expense.3. The burden of Cholecystitis, Gallstones, Liver cirrhosis, Liver cancer which was cost by Clonorchiasis Sinensis infected was 1.3 billion yuan. The direct burden of disease was 13.37 billion yuan. The direct non-treatment expense was 11.98 million yuan. The indirect burden of disease was 14.81 billion yuan.The Liver cancer burden of disease took up the largeset proportion in all the burden of disease amid the Liver and Ballblader disease in the Clonorchiasis Sinensis infected persons. It cost about 0.46 billion yuan which accout for the 28.75% burden of disease.The burden of Cholecystitis is 0.41 billion yuan which accout for the 25.46% burden of disease. The burden of Gallstones was 17.37 million yuan. The burden of Liver cirrhosis was 42.11 million yuan. The burden of disease in Peal River Delta area took up the highest proportion burden of disease. It cost about 1.2 billion yuan which accout for 76.30% burden of disease. The second heavest burden of disease was Peal River Upsteam. It cost about 0.33 billion yuan, which accout for 23.04% burden of disease. The Han River accounted for the lowest proportion burden of disease in GuangDong Clonorchis Sinensis endemic area. It only cost 1057 million yuan and took up about 0.66% burden of disease.Conclusions1. The average burden of disease for each Clonorchiasis Sinensis with liver and gall disease was very heavy.2. There was great diversity existed in different endemic area in Guangdong province. Some method should be taken to reduce the Clonorchis Sinensis pandemic in Peal River Delta area and upper reaches of Peal River. So some effective methods must be taken to control the Clonorchis Sinensis pndemic.3. The liver cirrhosis and liver cancer cost by Clonorchis Sinensis superimposed infection cost a heavy burden.
