Objective::Clinical observation of percutaneous vertebroplasty for thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures and discussion of relevant question. Methods:Retrospective analysis of 25 cases with 26 painful vertebral fractures from September 2009 to September 2010 ,which have complete clinical information. All diagnosis as thoracolumbar osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures. Contrast the preoperative and postoperative scores of ADL,VAS,cobb angle and compression ratio. Make statistical analysis of the results. Results: 25 cases have a 6 to 12 months (average 8.9 months) follow up postoperative. VAS has been reduced from preoperative 7.94±1.543 to 1.22±0.579, ADL has been reduced from 4.68±0.476 to 1.44±0.507, COBB angle has been reduced from 14.19°±9.078 to 14.12°±9.061, compression ratio has been reduced from 42.296%±17.8503 to 42.115%±17.7276. No obvious changes occurred during the follow up. None of these cases occurred any spinal and nerve damage, venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Conlusion: 1,Using PVP for the treatment of thoracolumbar osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures, by contrast of pre and postoperative scores of VAS and ADL, which has obvious differences and has statistical significance. The result tells that PVP doing well in the treatment of thoracolumbar osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures, the patients have an obvious improve of daily life. 2,No obvious changes showed in the compression ratio and cobb angle, which doesn't have any statistical significance. Tells that the PVP can not resume the height of vertebral body. 3,PVP is an effective method for the treatment of thoracolumbar osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures.
