Objectives This study included a cross-sectional study and a case-control study. On the one hand, through the cross-sectional study, we can get a full picture of iodine intake among the whole residents; on the other hand, in order to provide the scientific basis for protecting against thyroid diseases, we explore the relationship among iodine, dietary factors and thyroid nodules, through the case-control study.Methods In the first part, the dietary data was collected by 24 Hours Recall was adjusted by the data of condiment investigated by Food Weight Record. All the family members who are over the age of 4 were asked to complete an estimated dietary record for 3 consecutive days of food each individual consumed and calculating the iodine intake. The second part is a community-based case-control study from Hangzhou, Zhoushan and Quzhou. The cases and control group matched by age, gender, nation in frequency. And the survey method obtains food frequency questionnaire and laboratory examinations.Results A total of residents were investigated in this study, the iodine intake per man per day was 693.39μg .The figures in male was 724.19μg, and women was 664.61μg; the urban area and rural area were 635.28μg and 753.76μg; coastal area, nearly coastal area and inland area were 490.55μg, 517.88μg and 1187.51μg.
