Pomegranate leaf was reported with anti-oxygen, anti-lipid and anti-diabetes by modern pharmacological research. It is spread in a vast area of China in a great resourses with potential development. In this thesis, we sdudied the chemical constituents of pomegranate leaves. 7 chemicals of the leaves were isolated and 6 chemicals were indentified. They are ethyl gallate, ethyl brevifolincarboxylate, brevifolin, gallic acid, luteolin4′-O-β-glu-copy ranoside, ellagic acid. Ethyl gallate and ethyl brevifolincarboxylate were first report by our research. The extract of pomegranate leaves and the ingredients had no inhibition on CYP3A4, but inhibited positively CYP2E1 activity. This work is benefit for the study of pomegranate leaf in pharmaceutical science and pharmacokinetics. It will give us a useful literature for its drug devlopement.
