Purpose:The main purpose of this topic is to research the emotion characteristics and the rules of interwoven emotions of patients with Graves, study the symptoms and syndrome distribution of Graves and the relativity between emotion and symptom and syndrome by the means of epidemiological investigation.Method:With the scales made by ourselves, we researched the data of 581 patients'general condition, emotion states symptom and syndrome in 3 upper first-class hospitals of Shandong Province during May 2008 and May 2009.We also take the general condition of 800 workers of Jinan City as the controlled group and dealt the data with the method of logistic regression, factor analysis and frequency analysis.Result:Resentment, indignant, depression, tension, worry and anxiety contribute relative more to the origination of Graves. Although all kinds of emotions interweave together, we can classify them into three categories according to their intrinsic relationships. Factor 1 takes up a large part in happiness, joviality, relief, gladness and excitement. Factor 2,as a passive emotion factor assuming itself, takes up a large part in resentment, indignant, depression, thoughtfulness tension, agony, worry and anxiety. Factor 3, as a passive emotion factor with aggressive nature, takes up a large part in sadness, phobia, affright, abomination, regret, jealousness, hostility and shame. The intrinsic relationships between different emotions illustrate the interwoven multi-emotion characteristic of emotion disease-causing. The main symptoms, such as prominent eyes, irritability, feeble, lackadaisical and amnesia are consistent with the premenstrual syndrome, hyperactivity of liver yang and .stagnancy of liver revealed from the foregoing research of syndrome. In Graves, Vacuity Diseases are more than Real Diseases. The main disorder viscera are heart and liver. The main pathological changes are deficiency of vital energy and deficiency of yin while heart's deficiency of vital energy is the most important. Premenstrual syndrome and stagnancy of liver are possible Pathogenic mechanisms. Conclusion:The main disease-causing emotions of Graves are resentment, indignant, depression, tension, worry and anxiety. Prominent eyes, irritability, feeble, lackadaisical and amnesia are the main symptoms. The main syndrome is the deficiency of vital energy of heart. The conclusions above provide epidemiological data for therapy of derivatives of Graves and the research of interwoven multi-emotion causing Graves in traditional Chinese medical science. They also provide reference for clinical psychological intervene. We can infer from Graves that emotions disease-causing doesn't result in mono-emotion which provide evidence for the theory that interwoven multi-emotion causes disease coordinately.
