Objective:To investigate the relationship between EphA2,ephrinAl and E-cadherin expression with tumor stage and prognosis in pancreatic cancer.Methods:Ephh2,ephrinAl and E-cadherin expression were detected by immunohistochemistry in tumor tissues and normal tissue specimens from 48 cases of primary pancreatic cancer. Results:The expression of EphA2 and ephrinAl was higher in pancreatic carcinoma tissues than in normal pancreatic tissues (P<0.05). E-cadherin expression was lower in pancreatic cancer tissues than in normal pancreatic tissues P<0.05). With decreasing histological differenti-ation, the expression of EphA2 and ephrinAl in carcinoma tissues was increased significantly (P<0.05), while the E-cadherin expression was reduced significantly (P<0.05). The expression of EphA2 and ephrinAl in primary tumor significantly increased in stageâ…¢andâ…£than in stageâ… andâ…¡(44.12% VS. 7.14%, P<0.05; 26.74% VS. 7.14%, P<0.05); The expression of EphA2 and ephrinAl was higher in carcinomas with lymph node metastasis than in those without lymph node metastasis. EphA2 and ephrinAl expression was negatively correlated with the expression of E-cadherin respectively (r=-0.293, P<0.05; r=-0.429; P<0.05). The expression of EphA2 was positively correlated with ephrinAl expression (r=0.622. P<0.05).Conclusions:The abnormal expression of EphA2, ephrinAl and E-cadherin may be involved in the progress of pancreatic cancer and predicting the prognosis.
