Objective:To investigate the clinical features of uveitis and the influencing factors of clinical efficacy of uveitis'vitrectomy. Methods:A retrospective review was performed in the General Hospital of Lanzhou Military Region of Urumqi, between January,2004 and December,2009.216 eyes of 184 patients hospitalized with various types of uveitis were retrospectively analyzed. Observed in patients with their gender, age, etiology, course, anatomical classification, relapse frequency, treatment, changes in visual acuity, eye symptoms and the incidence of complications before and after the treatment. The changes in visual acuity, eye symptoms and the incidence of complications before and after treament were analyzed statistically by statistical methods. According to the changes in visual acuity, eye symptoms and the incidence of complications before and after treatment, we determined the clinical efficacy.54 eyes of 48 patients with uveitis received vitrectomy. We compared comprehensively the clinical efficacy of vitrectomy under different gender, age, etiology, course, anatomical classification, relapse frequency and the difference of clinical efficacy of various groups was analyzed statistically by statistical methods. Results:Among 216 eyes of 184 patients, there were 162 eyes of 142 male patients and 52 eyes of 42 female patients. The kind of patients of 21 to 40-year-old was majority (100 patients 54.3%). Etiology:the kind of idiopathic uveitis was mainly (103patients 56.0%) and that of traumatic uveitis was followed (23 patients 12.5%). Course of the disease:the kind of acute uveitis was 155 eyes (71.8%)and that of chronic uveitis was 61 eyes (28.2%). Anatomy Category:the kind of anterior uveitis was mainly (136 eyes 63.0%) and that of generalized uveitis was followed(61 eyes 28.2%).Treatment:there werel54 eyes(71.3%)received drug treatment and 62 eyes(28.7%)received drug and surgical therapy. There were 54 eyes received vitrectomy.Complications:Before treatment, there were 81 eyes (37.5%)without complications and 135eyes (62.5%) with complications. While after treatment, there were 144eyes (66.7%)without complications and 72eyes (33.3%) with complications. In 216 eyes,53 eyes (24.5%) were recovered,83 eyes (38.5%) were excellence,69 eyes(31.9%) were effective and 11 eyes(5.1%) were ineffective. The cure rate was 24.5%and the total efficiency was 94.9%. In 54 eyes were received vitrectomy,2 eyes(3.7%) were recovered,14 eyes(25.9%) were excellence,30eyes(55.6%) were effective and 8 eyes(14.8%) were ineffective. The cure rate was3.7% and the total efficiency was85.2%.The comparison of visual acuity of the group of patients before and after treatment was different, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). The comparison of the eye signs of this group of patients before and after treatment was different, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). The comparison of complications of this group of patients before and after treatment was different, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01).The clinical efficacy of vitrectomy among the patients with different gender, age, etiology and disease course was no difference, and the difference was no statistically significant (P>0.05).The clinical efficacy of vitrectomy among the patients with different anatomical classification was differenct, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The clinical efficacy of vitrectomy among the patients with relapse frequency was differenct, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion:Uveitis is a common blindness disease of the eye, which occurs in young adults, more men than women. Its causes are complex, and idiopathic uveitis are mainly. Acute uveitis and anterior uveitis are majority. Currently, the main treatment of uveitis is drug, but for the part of uveitis which were ineffective by purely medical treatment and the recurrent, delayed healing of uveitis, there are some clinical effects by vitrectomy surgery. The different anatomical classification and relapse frequency will affect the clinical efficacy of its vitrectomy.
