Objective:To investigate thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) activity distribution in Han and Uyger population in Xinjiang. Methods:Erythrocyte(RBC) TPMT activity in Han (n=124) and Uyger (n=70) population were measured by using HPLC. Results:The TPMT activity of 70 volunteers was normally distributed, the mean values of TPMT was 11.48±2.53nmol/h-ml-RBCs, male 11.99±3.18nmol/h-ml-RBCs, female 11.51±2.73nmol/h-ml-RBCs, The TPMT activity of 124 volunteers was normally distributed, the mean values of TPMT was 11.64±2.25nmol/h-ml-RBCs, malell.62±2.70nmol/h-ml-RBCs, female 11.80±2.18nmol/h-ml-RBCs. No TPMT activity deficiency subject was found,There was not significant difference in TPMT activity between man and woman, and no difference between Han and Uyger within each group involved in this study. Conclusion:The activity of TPMT is normal distribution in Han and Uyger. There was not significant difference in TPMT activity between man and woman, and no difference between Han and Uyger within each group involved in this study.
