Objective:To apply the binary Logistic regression model and evaluate high frequency ultrasonograghic and color doppler flow imaging of thyroid solitary nodules with age and sex of the patients in the differential diagnosis of thyroid solitary nodules. Materials and Methods:Two hundred and sixteen cases of thyroid nodules diagnosed pathologically were analyzed retrospectively, one hundred and sixty two nodules were benign, and the remaining fifty four nodules were malignant. The high frequency ultrasonograghic and color doppler flow imaging features of benign and malignant masses with age and sex of the patients were recorded and compared using multiple stepwise binary logistic regression analysis,A receiver operator characteristic curve(ROC) was constructed to assess the performance of the Logistic model. Results:Three ultrasonographic features were finally entered into the logistic model; they were micro calcification, heterogeneous and the morphologic feature of blood flow. The percentage of correct prediction was 86.6% respectively, the area under ROC curve was 0.903%. Conclusion:The binary Logistic regression model using high frequency ultrasonograghic and color doppler flow imaging of thyroid solitary nodules with age and sex of the patients can be helpful for differentiation of benign or malignant thyroid solitary nodules.
