Intravitreal Injection Avastin Combined With Modified Macular Grid Photocoagulation Treatment Of Diabetic Macular Edema

Purpose: To compare the clinical effect of the combination intravitreal Avastin(Bevacizumab)and modified macular grid photocoagulation for Diabetic Macular Edema(DME) with modified macular grid photocoagulation alone.Methods: 87 patients(101eyes) with DME were studied prospective during March.2009 to February.2010.The patients were classified as mild,moderate and severe according to the degree of macular edema. Each category were randomly divided into two groups. The two groups were Avastin vitreous injection associated with modified macular grid photocoagulation (associated treatment group) and single modified macular grid photocoagulation ( single treatment group).Ten months after treatment , BCVA,CRT were compared with and observed in the two groups.Results:In associated treatment group, The BCVA in patients with mild to severe was improved significantly (P<0.05) and the CRT was thinner significantly(P<0.05); In single treatment group, the BCVA in patients with mild and moderate was improved significantly (P<0.05) and the CRT was thinner significantly(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference about BCVA and CRT in the severe patients(P>0.05) .Ten months after treatment , BCVA and CRT were compared in the two groups, there was no significant difference in the mild patients(P>0.05),but in the severe patients ,there was significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusion: Both Avastin vitreous injection associated with modified macular grid photocoagulation and single modified macular grid photocoagulation for the treatment of diffuse DME are effective in mild and moderate patients. But on the aspect of the moderate and severe patients, Avastin vitreous injection associated with modified macular grid photocoagulation is superior to single modified macular grid photocoagulation. Avstin deleted combined with modified macular grid laser photocoagulation for the treatment of severe diffuse diabetic macular edema in patients with significant effect. Early detection and treatment of patients with diabetic macular edema, injection of drugs to reduce the risk and incidence of complications, and can reduce the burden of patient care and better visual acuity recovery。...
