ObjectiveStudied the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 10 (MMP-10) in normal breast tissue,benign breast tumor,breast cancer with no axillary lymph node metastasis and breast cancer with axillary lymph node metastasis. Explored the relationship between the four groups and from each other, also the relationship in clinic pathological factors of patients with breast cancer. Analysed the function of MMP-10 in breast cancer occurrence, development,invasion and metastasis.MethodsStudied the expression of MMP-10 in 25 normal breast tissue,25 benign breast tumor tissue,25 tissue of breast cancer with no axillary lymph node metastasis and 25 tissue of breast cancer with axillary lymph node metastasis by immunohistochemistry S-P method. Analysed the relationship among the four groups and from each other.Also analysed the expression in clinic pathological factors:age, status of menopause, tumor size, number of metastasised axillary lymph node, clinical stage, pathological type, histology grade,as well as the relationship among MMP-10, ER, PR, Her-2.Results1. In 25 normal breast tissue,the MMP-10 expresssd mainly between (-)~(+).In 25 benign breast tumor tissue,the MMP-10 expresssd mainly between (-)~(+).In 25 tissue of breast cancer with no axillary lymph node metastasis,,the MMP-10 expresssd mainly between (+)~(++). In 25 tissue of breast cancer with axillary lymph node metastasis,,the MMP-10 expresssd mainly between (++)~(+++). There was significant difference among the four groups(P<0.05),and there was significant difference between each other(P<0.05).2. The expression of MMP-10 was not associated with age, status of menopause, tumor size, clinical stage, pathological type, or histology grade (P>0.05),but was associated with number of metastasissd axillary lymph node. (P<0.05). 3. Mean while the relationship among MMP-10,ER,PR,Her-2 were not significant (P>0.05).Conclusions1.The expression of MMP-10 in breast cancer with no axillary lymph node metastasis group was significant higher than human benign breast tumor group.It suggested that MMP-10 might be have positive influence in occurrence and development of breast cancer.2. The expression of MMP-10 in breast cancer with axillary lymph node metastasis group was significant higher than breast cancer with axillary lymph node metastasis group. It suggested that MMP-10 might be have positive influence in invasion and metastasis of breast cancer.3. The expression of MMP-10 in breast cancer was not significantly associated with age, status of menopause, tumor size, clinical stage, pathological type, histology grade, ER, PR,or Her-2.
